Basketball Nonsense

When Allen Iverson was traded from Denver to Detroit, almost everyone instantly knew that he’s not going to be re-signed back by Joe Dumars.

So now that the offseason is on-going, its not surprising that Allen Iverson drew interest from several teams around the league. AI voiced out that he wants to play for ‘any team’ regardless of whether the team is a contender or a pretender. Teams that are interested are the Bobcats, Clippers, Grizzlies, and the Miami Heat.

CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The Bobcats were interested because Larry Brown used to coach AI and the two had a very good relationship. The Bobcats were nowhere near a contender and AI said he doesn’t care. Raymond Felton and Allen Iverson at backcourt is not a bad thing though.

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES

When the rumor started couple of weeks ago, many really were convinced that AI is going to Memphis. AI publicly announced the he’d like to play in Memphis although its not really sure the addition of him would blend well with the team’s youth movement. And in fact, its hard to see Gay, OJ Mayo and Iverson on one team.

CLIPPERS

This team has the least chance to acquire AI but personally I would like to see him in Clippertown. The Clippers is a talented team and seeing AI and Baron Davis at the same time feels exciting. What’s not sure though is if he would start or come off the bench (thing he doesnt want).

MIAMI HEAT

As of this writing, Pat Riley has said to have contacted Allen Iverson about the possibility of joining D-Wade and the Heat. Pat announced early this week that he wouldn’t bring someone who would start over Mario Chalmers and Iverson is exactly the opposite. But again, statements are usually overrated and we all know they’re lying. Very interesting to see him in the red uniform.

Acquiring AI has a ton of cons over pros and teams know that. The problem with AI over the years is that he’s been competing so hard that sometimes his agressive nature fires back on his own team. Oh well, just my 2 cents. What do you think? Where do you want to see him?
