When Some Players Were Left For All Star…

The NBA All Star Festivities is getting closer and closer…

So the final list has now been release and you can look at  all the candidates here. The All-Star players have been pretty much the same. D-Wade, AI, Lebron. On the other hand, Kobe Bryant, CP3, Timmy and so. Basically, there are only 2 newcomers in the name of Devin Harris and Granger, both from the East.

Actually I was surprised by yawns and whines of some players that are disappointed they don’t quite made the list. I thought its not really that big of a matter to them. But now I realized maybe it is of a big deal! Here are there statements:

Mo Williams:

It’s a tragedy. How many players get into the game, and how many players did the Magic get in? They’ve got three players, and we’ve got the best record. Not just in the Eastern Conference, but in the whole league… Best team in the world, and we got one player.”

LeBron James:

“It just shows the disrespect that basketball in Cleveland continues to get. I haven’t seen the All-Star list yet, so I can’t comment on who’s in it. But it’s definitely disrespectful that we continue to do work every year with nothing to show for it. They always say when you win, individual accolades will take care of itself. But sometimes it doesn’t happen

Doc on Ray Allen:

“No comment. Very disappointed.”

Steve Nash:

“The truth is I don’t really deserve it,” Nash said of being selected for the All-Star Game. “The team’s in seventh place (in the West). Maybe if we were in fourth or fifth, it’d be a different story. There are others who are more deserving.”

Personally I like Mo Williams statement. Very Bold! I think in NBA, there are always players that will get snubbed. Why? Because NBA is just a damn talented place. You can scan each team and immediately pick 3 on each.

What say you?

  1. rek,

I have to agree that Mo Williams was indeed worthy of being an all-star. Look at the Cavs right now, they’re playing good basketball, and the good thing is Mo lived to the expectations when the Cavs acquired him as a sidekick to King James. No disrespect to Nelson, but I’ll choose Mo over him.

  2. I liked the Nash quote, very honest.
I only was surprised that Nelson was in. You could make an argument that maybe Granger or Harris should’ve been left off because they are on losing teams, but Granger is playing at such a high level, he needs to be there. Mo should’ve been in, maybe Ray Allen too, and that would mean my main man Devin Harris might’ve been out.
If you look at the starters you could say AI doesn’t belong, at least he doesn’t have a better season than Mo Williams or Vince Carter or whoever, but that’s just the way it goes. Every year players are gonna get snubbed, can’t do anything about that. You can’t have three players from the Celtics, three from the Raptors and three from the Cavs.
I was also amazed Al Jefferson wasn’t in, but we can debate this to death, it’s not going to change!

  3. Breaking News, sort of: Ray Allen replaces Jameer Nelson at the All-Star Game. Mo Williams is not happy, I suppose.

  4. yeah, agreed. Mo Williams is playing ALMOST, keyword being ALMOST at the level Lebron is playing at. If nothing else he is one of the top players in the NBA this season.
