James Harden 3rd pick / 2009 NBA Draft
I hear a lot of people saying that the draft sucked this year? Anyone Else? Well, I see a lot of positive’s.
The thing about this draft is the lack of Superstars. We weren’t blessed with a Lebron/Carmelo/D.Wade or a Shaq/Zo/Laettner this time around. What we got was a cut and dry number one in Blake Griffin, some potentials like Brandon Jennings, and a lot of solid players.
I did feel that two guys from PITT Dejuan Blair and Sam Young should have been 1st rounders, and Chase Budinger as well. Chase is from Vista, CA (North County San Diego), He dropped 50 in the SD High School Finals, and then went on to win Co-MVP of the McDonalds All-American game, not to mention averaging around 18 points a game! Anyways, that’s just me.
My favorite pick may have been James Harden going number 3! I can’t help it, I have to root for the Pac Ten and guys that I seen play in person… If there good. I got a chance to see Harden play against San Diego State in a pre-conference game, I had heard he was good, but didn’t feel like he showed up against SDSU, but as I watched him the rest of the year it was easy to see that he was legit! I think I may have overlooked his defensive abilities and non scoring additions to the game though.
Here’s to 2009-2010!

We also have to remember that this was year of the Point Guard! Which of these guys of these guys will be categorized with John Stockton, Jason Kid, or Steve Nash?
I still don’t get how Blair lasted until the 2nd round for San Antonio to take him. He is a bull down low and I’m sure Duncan is happy he’ll get some help on the boards.
Budinger definitely deserved to be first round after giving some serious life to Arizona for the first time since our ‘97 title run.
