Stephen Curry Overrated? You Judge

Well all the fuzz that we’re hearing about Stephen Curry and how talented this young kid could be has started a year ago. Now that he is in the NBA, the ‘free plug’ has still continued. Make no mistake about it, I don’t dislike the kid. He’s a good shooter, amazing talent for his age but isn’t it like he’s overrated? Doing a simple Google search for term’s Stephen Curry Overrated would yield a ton of listing in the search engine.

To be honest with you guys, I think he is actually overrated. Yes, you hear it, he’s great but he is rated so high for what he can do. Stephen Curry can score and he can score by shooting threes and taking jumpshots. The guy doesn’t have an inside game (watched in some of his games), above average dribbler, not-so good passer, bad defender and undersized for pro league. I heard the Warriors are looking to start him either at point guard or as a starting shooting guard. If that happens then good luck Don Nelson.

Back to Curry, we can compare him to a guy named JJ Reddick. Orlando drafted the guy couple of years back and for some reasons the guy is a complete flop. Curry can be a good sidekick for a team that maybe has LeBron or Carmelo and stuffs. He can be a go-to-guy on some days but certainly not a franchise player. Now I just wonder why the guy continues to receive good press from large websites like ESPN and Yahoo Sports and etc. The guy is so overrated. Or maybe I”m wrong

  1. Randy,

I don’t really know but I think the guy became overrated because of all those press that those people/media were all throwing to him. I don’t think it’s his problem. Sometimes players, as much as they can they want to keep their profile low but other factors can certainly harm it.

  2. Leo,

I completely agree. Over-rated. The only way he’s getting his points is by taking a ton of questionable shots. Look at his weak FG numbers in his 5 summer league games:

    FGM-A
    4-10
    3-15
    7-19
    8-22
    4-14

And that’s against summer league competition. It only gets harder for him.

  3. Melvin,

I always see him as a guy that would shoot less than 35% on field goals and in 20′s on three ball.

  4. He just might be overrated as an NBA player but I’m at least going to give him a chance to prove himself.
