Knicks Are Targeting Backcourt Players (Why?)

Heading into the next season, the New York Knicks are looking to shore up their backcourt. The Knicks last season have a depleted backcourt that just consists of Chris Duhon, Nate Robinson and Larry Hughes (w/ Chris being the lone pure guard). Because of that, NY has tried to get quality backcourt players. They started by publicly proclaiming that if still available, they would pick sharpshooter Stephen Curry. Unfortunately Curry has been picked up by a guard-loaded team in Golden State.

So to fast forward things, New York is eyeing a ton of guards. To name a  few they are Ramon Sessions, Jason Williams, Von Wafer, Jamal Tinsley and just recently Jerry Stackhouse. I don’t know but isn’t it that the Knicks are chasing too many guards. Yeah, I know that Nate Robinson’s status as a Knick is still in the air but having Sessions, Duhon, Williams, Wafer (and Robinson possibly) at backcourt? Doesn’t that indicate a little overload at the guard spot? Well, maybe the Knicks would just pick 2 or 3 but again in my opinion I think they just need one more (in case Robinson is re-signed). And that one obviously is Ramon Sessions. What do you think about it guys?

  1. Leo,

I think only Sessions – and maybe Von Wafer – can be considered long term options. Hopefully these other guys are just trade bait or a negotiation tactic. At most, they should be 1-year fill-ins. I just hope the Knicks land Sessions and can be done with all this other crap.
