Denver vs LAL

Before and during the series, many people including myself feel that the Lakers is the overwhelming favorite here. And I am talking here as a Denver fan. Why not, I mean LA has Kobe Bryant, they have experience, and they have tremendous low post advantage. And they proved it actually during the first two games of the series. Instead of continuing the goods, they decided that it would great if they can make the series longer and now, they’re obviously the underdog heading to Game 7 with Nuggets winning the last 2 games convincingly.

I’m rooting for the Nuggets but I do hope them to get on a fast start. They seem to be always relinquishing their lead throughout the game but that means that in case they do, they can still keep up when fourth quarter comes. The only way they’re winning is when they’re outrunning and outgunning the older Lakers team. When they do that, Pau and Bynum lose their focus and the whole Lakers team gets in disarray.

The Nuggets thus will win if they do the above. That’s their only chance.

Memphis vs LAC

Memphis here is the team that has the homecourt advantage but this is a very very close matchup. LAC seems to have the advantage in overall firepower but experience-wise and chemistry-wise, this Grizzlies team is much deeper. They also have an unstoppable duo in Randolph-Gasol, but they have an electric scorer in Rudy Gay.

I hate the Clips (because they’re floppers) but realistically speaking, its hard to see them winning this final game with both Griffin and Paul banged up.

So its clear that I’m on Memphis & Denver side. Go Denver, Go Grizz!

The current holder of that title is the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers who finished the season 9-73. Assuming the Bobcats don’t win any of their last 4 games, they will end up with a 7-59 record, a .106 winning percentage which is worse than the Sixers .110 mark during the said year. Their last 4 games include facing the Kings, Wizards, Magic and Knicks. I can see them having a good chance against the first two teams and perhaps with the Knicks. But since they blew (badly) their past games against the Wizards and the Hornets, two teams that are somehow like them, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them lose the next four. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

The reason why the Bobcats are so terrible is simply because they lack good players. Seriously, if you look at their players, it seems to me like most of them wouldn’t even end up on the active roster of the other 29 teams. Charlotte is last in the league in points per game averaging a miserable 87.08 per game clip. But their defense is equally just bad as they currently sit 27th in allowed points per game at 100.58 per game. That’s a huge 13-point difference there.  And if you actually watch their games, they do not seem to be even good enough to hit open perimeter shots or execute some simple offensive plays.  Pretty obvious that its not really Paul Silas’ fault or the player’s fault, but rather the management’s fault for not even trying to compete this season. Again, they have a pretty terrible lineup talent-wise and in any sports, its impossible to win if you don’t have good talent on your team. Michael Jordan must realize that.

So will the Bobcats end up being the NBA’s worst team of all time? I think so. But I wouldn’t be upset if they don’t.  Good luck to them!
