Charlotte-Detroit Trade

The Pistons announced that they have acquired center Primoz Brezec and forward Walter Hermann in exchange for center Nazr Mohammed, Friday night. The Pistons also waived Ronald Dupree. This is the second trade of the season after the Magic-Lakers transaction. The Pistons obviously got the most of the trade saving nearly $20 million and getting expiring contracts. Primoz Brezec is the starting center of the Bobcats though it’s evident that Sam Vincent is not going to use his value. Hermann is a spark off the bench who can also play tough defense inside. Nazr Mohammed has been a journeyman. He played for the Hawks, Knicks, Spurs and Pistons. His best season was with the Spurs, when they helped them win the Championship way back 2005. He has struggled then, having difficulties to adjust in the system of Flip.

My opinion is not different from yours. I don’t see any reasons why Charlotte acquired him. They got an aging player with a “slightly bad” contract and gave away two contributors (as well as expiring contracts). Let’s just see how Nazr can fit into the system of Sam Vincent.

  1. Nickel,

I don’t know what the BObcats are doing. Nazr is aging and will surely not fit their system…

  2. Melvin,

whew!! nice name…. well, i dont know either…

  3. rek,

The Bobcats need Nazr to be the defender of the best low post player of the opposing team, not Emeka Okafor.. His stint with the Bobcats will be like his days with the Spurs.. Unlike in Detroit where he’s ask to be an offensive threat which he doesn’t really give that much, he will be a bonus part for the Bobcats learning process…

  4. melvin_42190,

not really agree with you boy! The Bobcats needed someone who can defend. They gave their expiring contracts, a great talent in Hermann and a cap space only to acquire someone who isn’t really consistent! Nazr had his best in S.A. because of Timmy. Emeka doesn’t garner much attention… and I just don’t know boy! That two could had yield a better player than Nazr, believe me..

  5. rek,

I know that both teams got their interests from the trade. Detroit now has cap space flexibility and bobcats now has a better defender… Okafor is not Timmy(I know) but it will lessen the fouls that Okafor accumulates that hinders him from playing good Basketball

  6. John,

I don’t agree with Walter HERRMANN moving to Detroit.

The Pistons way of playing doesn’t suit any international player.

DELFINO, OKUR & MILICIC all struggle in Detroit.

I do want to see HERRMANN given more time play.

  7. Melvin,

Neither we… Walter is an energy guy.. Detroit’s rotation has always been shallow…

  8. TheWorstJoke,

and it never got passed 7-8 man..

  9. RaptorsTalk.com,

mj is not a good manager. it started with trading richard hamilton for jerry stackhouse, continued with drafting kwame brown, and now this.

he did the pistons a favour, and made them stronger…scary
